100 years of tennis in Pembroke, Wanaka

First established as Pembroke Tennis Club.
Established at new site on Recreation Reserve.
Two astrograss courts opened (Onny Parun).
Two more astrograss courts & one hard court (synpave) completed.
Two buildings purchased from Dunedin Electricity.

​Two-sided volley wall completed.
Major alterations to pavilion begun (changing rooms, showers, toilets, kitchen). 
Alterations to pavilion (stage 1) completed.
Extension to lounge (stage 2) completed. Seeking installation of court lights for courts 1 & 2.
Decided to proceed with two new courts, one with lights, (courts 6 & 7).
Celebrated centenary with champagne breakfast & professional tennis. 
Courts 1 & 2 resurfaced with Tiger Elite.​

In addition to members, many outside clubs and overseas teams are hosted by the Wanaka Tennis Club, or make use of our facilities. The N.Z. Academy of Sport uses our courts over the winter months. Non-member fees collected in the 2007-08 financial year totalled in excess of $8000.
Coaching

2001  -  (Nov) James McGavin appointed Club Coach (Junior numbers reached 100).
2004  -  Mark Milburn and Lan Bale took over from Queenstown.
2005  -  Perry Crockett appointed Club Coach.
2006  -  Tim Vaughan takes over while Perry in London (winter months).
2007/08  -  Dean Jones assists Perry/Tim during January & February. Coaching in excess of 150 children and many adults.​
Playing Achievements

2003/07/08
Veterans Team; Winner of Grape Cup (Central Otago Competition).

2005/06             
Perry Crockett; Otago and Southland Open Men's Singles Champion.

2005/06/07/08 
Perry Crockett, member of winning Queenstown Lakes Tennis Team (Southern Regions Quadrangular Tournament).
Played No.1 in Southern Districts Regional Team (Nationals).

2006
Fraser Hannon/Josh Roberts; winners (9 and under) Double Dunlop Grand Prix Junior Tournament (Brisbane).
Josh Roberts; runner-up (11 and under singles)
Double Dunlop Grand Prix Junior Tournament (Brisbane).
Josh Roberts; winner (11 and under Singles and Doubles) Lincom Invitational Tournament (Brisbane). 

2007
Josh Roberts; winner of the Teddy's Cup (Brisbane).

2006/7/8
Several of our Juniors have won South Canterbury, Otago, & Southland titles (singles & doubles), and are regular members of Southern Lakes Regional teams.

2005    Wanaka Tennis Club; Queenstown Lakes Community Award for Sport and Recreation.

2005    David Buckingham; QLDC Heart of the District Civic Services Award (for Voluntary Services to the Community).

2006    David Buckingham; SBS Sport Otago John Fitzharris Memorial Trophy (for Services to Sport).

2007    Perry Crockett; Finalist, SBS Central Otago Sportsman of the year.
