General Information

bulletThe present club began as the "Pembroke Tennis Club in 1908.  Click for more history.
bulletWanaka Tennis Inc. was incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908 on 3 September 1997.
bulletThe Constitution (Rules) of Wanaka Tennis Inc. (as amended on 17 January 2003) are available on request from the Secretary, and are posted on the notice board in the Club House.

Objectives of the club include:

bulletTo foster and promote  tennis.
bulletTo provide facilities to participate in the sport of tennis and associated social functions for club members, residents of Wanaka District Community, and visitors.  Currently this includes courts, a volley wall and a clubhouse with ongoing plans for expansion and improvement.

Membership Categories

The club’s constitution states, "that members shall be designated to meet the  requirements of the club at each AGM."  For the 2007-08 season membership categories are:

bulletPee Wee:  up to 8 years
bulletJunior: 8 to 18 years
bulletSenior: 19 to 34 years
bulletVeteran: 35 to 54 years
bulletSuper Veteran: 55 years and over
bulletAssociate: Non-playing

Membership type is based on the age of the member as of the date of application.

Life members

We are proud to include amongst our membership 25 inaugural life members and one honorary life member.


Subscription fees

These are set annually at the AGM and are due from the day of Opening each year.  Please refer to the Subscriptions page of the web site for the current fees.

A half-yearly subscription is available from 1 May.

Financial Year

From 1 July to 30 June of the following year.

Annual General Meeting

The Management Committee sets a day, location and time in September each year for the AGM.  Members are advised by email and/or newsletter and the general public via a local newspaper.

Subcommittees

A number of subcommittees exist for various purposes and are responsible to the management committee.

Opening Day

Held in October with the date being set at the AGM.  See the Coming Events page.

Closing Day

Usually held in April and is celebrated with a doubles competition for the George Morris Memorial Millennium Trophy.  See the Coming Events page.
